This is the start of my dividend growth journey. It is the first post I publish. I created this blog for various reasons. First, to share my experience and progress on my personal dividend growth journey. Second, to hold myself accountable to my targets and strategy by keeping a public record. Third, receive feedback from you guys out there.
I discovered the dividend growth strategy about a year ago. I believe it is the right strategy for me. I am in it for the long run. My goal is to build a passive income stream of about 30.000 euros ($35.000 USD) over the next two decades. On top, I plan to involve my children early on in their lives so that they discover the potential of financial independence while being young.
At the moment my investment fund amounts to $60,000 / €54,000 and my PADI (Predicted Annual Dividend Income) is at $3,639 or €3,217. The current dividend YoC (yield on cost) is 5.77%. I made some good investments at the end of 2018 with the market dip giving me some great starting yields. However, I have made some classical beginners mistakes costing me quite some money. I will go into more details in a future post.
For now, my portfolio composition looks like this:
The sector distribution looks like this:
I have learned a lot from other blogs about the way to look at stock with regards to dividend investing. One of the best sources I find is Ferdi from DivGro, a blog started 2013. There is a lot of insight as to what is relevant for dividend investing and how to avoid the mayor pitfalls.
In that respect, I think it would be great to start this blog by going through my current portfolio holdings and review when the stocks were bought. Was it a good decision for each of them? I use F.A.S.T. Graphs as an analysis tool for valuation and identifying opportunities. I will let you know in a series of next posts across the different sectors.
Disclosure: at time of writing long on all the above shown stocks
