Dividend Income October 2019

Another month has gone by and the dividends come rolling in. In the month of October I received dividends of $100.98 from 6 different companies. In the table below are all the details. A comparison with last years’ October income ($14.07) is not indicative because I was still in the setup phase of my Dividend Growth Journey.

The story repeats itself. The month of October is by far my lowest income month. This is mainly do to the fact that dividends of the European stock which I hold pay only once, maybe twice, per year and in the year-end reporting season around April – May. So, nothing to worry about.

In fact, just a few days ago I hit the milestone of $4,000 projected annual dividend income with my last purchases in October. You can read about it in this blogpost. A target that seemed quite far away just a couple of weeks back has become reality. I truly believe, this is the key: sticking to your long-term goals and cutting out the noise. A month of less dividends than the previous one? So, what? If the additions are maintained regularly, dividends not being cut and reinvested, then the only way is up, it doesn’t matter in which month the actual payment happens.

Three of the stocks pay a monthly dividend: GOOD, GAIN and O. Altria is the main contributor this month with $58.80. I held 70 shares and on September 13th, the ex-dividend date, I purchased another 60 shares. However, these were obviously not eligible for the dividend payment in October. I expect that we will see a nice increase to $109.20 from Altria alone.

In summary, October has been the lowest paying month this year, but I expect further dividend income growth over the next months and next year in October, who knows, maybe I added more stock which pay in the months 1, 4, 7 & 10. My dividend growth journey is still at its beginning, and I am still working on building a nice base portfolio. The actual payout month at this point is irrelevant for me. All dividends are being reinvested to grow the snowball. Check out my full annual dividend details in the Dividends page.
